Argon Medical Devices recently received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin marketing the company’s CLEANER 15 Rotational Thrombectomy Systems and CLEANER XT™ for mechanical declotting and controlled and selective infusion of physician-specified fluids, including thrombolytics, in the peripheral vasculature.
This FDA gives physicians access to CLEANER’s features in cases where IVC filters are present in order to clean wall-adherent thrombus on the peripheral vasculature. The clearance also increases CLEANER’s existing permissions for mechanical declotting of native vessel dialysis fistulae and synthetic dialysis access grafts.
After acute coronary syndrome and stroke, venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the most common cardiovascular illness. It is believed that 1 million cases of the disease occur in the United States each year.
Argon Medical Services was founded in 1972, and its business focus includes manufacturing medical products and other equipment for radiology, surgery, interventional cardiology, oncology procedures, and critical care. Through cutting-edge equipment, Argon provides conditions for physicians to improve patient outcomes and clinical efficiency.
George Leondis, Argon’s President, stated in a press release: “Safely expanding the application of the CLEANER family of products to the peripheral vasculature means more effective therapy for patients suffering from peripheral thrombosis and occlusions (…) Combining an atraumatic approach with efficient thrombus removal is unique among thrombectomy devices, and we are excited to make this product available for a wider range of applications.”
The CLEANER technology from Argon Inc. will now be available for patients suffering with thrombus in the peripheral vasculature who are in need of treatment.
Argon features other breakthrough technologies as well, such as the OptionELITE™ Retrievable Vena Cava Filter, Atrieve™Vascular Snare, BioPince™ Full-core Biopsy Instrument, Skater™ Drainage Systems, T-Lok Bone Marrow Biopsy Needles and UltraStream™ Chronic Dialysis Catheters.
