Team FiltersFast.com, an innovative fundraising project launched by the owners and employees of FiltersFast.com, an online home filter company from Monroe, NC, raised an impressive $23,408 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with their participation in the 2014 Cystic Fibrosis Xtreme Hike for a Cure, a hiking event that covered over 30 miles in one day along the picturesque Appalachian Trail.
In the last two months, FiltersFast.com customers were able to donate $1.00 after checking out on the website. This simple donation opportunity has led the air and water filter company to raise $7,500 in checkout-generation contains alone, which was added to the $15, 908 raised during the Appalachian event.
“It is an amazing group of people that are up to the challenge of the hike as well as raising money to help find a cure for CF,” said Ray Scardigno, FiltersFast.com president. His team, said Scardigno, worked and trained hard for the hike, which included a rigorous 3-month training program, complete with daily workouts and team hikes.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been organizing regional hike events across the U.S. for the past 5 years. The goal is to raise funds that can help researchers to find a cure for the disease that affects nearly 70,000 people worldwide — 30 to 40,000 of which live in the United States alone. The Foundation’s mission is to research and develop clinical trials, drug therapies, and other treatments.
