In 2012, the board of directors for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center created a holding company to oversee all of its operating units. As of now, this holding company doesn’t have an official name, but it does now have a permanent president and chief executive officer. Linda Myers, a veteran in the industry, has taken on the official title after holding the interim president and CEO title since January of this year.
As the San Antonio Business Journal reports, Myers has been involved in the organization for 19 years, acting as president and CEO of QualTex Laboratories, an affiliated organization, since 2011. Dennis Stahl, chairman of the board of directors for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center’s holding company, says of Myers,
“She has been successful across the board in her career here and especially over the past two years in guiding the growth and increased national presence of QualTex.”
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is a nonprofit organization that provides blood and its necessary components to 100 hospitals in 43 Texas counties. QualTex Laboratories offers the screening services for blood and plasma donations, including some testing for other biotechnology companies across the globe.
Myers plans to bring the same goals to all affiliated organizations, and to continue making its presence known in the San Antonio biotech industry through key partnerships and increased opportunities for exposure.
