There is a changing of the guard at Texas-based Orthofix International, a global medical device company that specializes in the orthopedic and spinal markets. Following the exit of Robert Vaters, the company has now named Brad Mason as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Mason worked at Orthofix International from 2003 to 2010 in diverse roles and has been praised for his work in bringing Spinal Implants, a business acquired during his tenure, into the black. Mr. Mason originally joined Orthofix after the latter purchased Breg, Inc., the company he started in 1989.
“The Board believes that Brad is a terrific leader, who brings with him a strong track record of growth and value creation, and we welcome him back to Orthofix at a time when the Company is in a fundamentally solid position,” Orthofix International Chairman James Gero has been quoted as saying, according to an article in the Fort Mill Times. “We also want to thank Bob for his many contributions over the past several years guiding the Company through difficult times and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
In order to fulfill his new role as President and CEO of Orthofix International, Mr. Mason will be relocating to Lewisville, Texas. “I am extremely excited to come back to Orthofix and am thrilled with the potential we have,” Mason said about his new post. “I look forward to pursuing the many opportunities we have in the markets we serve. I also want to thank the Board for their confidence in me and thank Bob for suggesting me as his successor. I am anxious to work with all of our employees and constituents to create value for our shareholders and customers.”
