Searching for information on Coronary Heart Disease (CAD), also known as Myocardial Ischemia? Download BioNews Texas’ FREE white paper report on Myocardial Ischemia, which includes a full background on the disease, symptoms, risk factors, treatments, and more.
The following is an extract from the white paper:
As of 2012, Coronary artery disease (CAD) was the most common cause of death globally and a major cause of hospital admissions. According to the World Health Organization, heart disease and stroke kill some 17 million people a year, almost one-‐third of all deaths globally. By 2020, heart disease and stroke will become the leading cause of both death and disability worldwide, with the number of fatalities projected to increase to over 20 million a year and by 2030 to over 24 million a year.
The most common type of heart disease and cause of heart attacks is Coronary artery disease (CAD) also known as atherosclerotic heart disease, coronary heart disease (CHD), or ischemic heart disease (IHD) or Myocardial Ischemia, a condition that typically develops in the body over periods of years or decades.
This type of disease is both largely preventable and to some degree manageable and treatable through making heart-‐healthy dietary and lifestyle choices. However, since Myocardial ischemia can be developing in the body for a long time before symptoms manifest, pre-‐emptive prevention is greatly preferable to management after the fact, as we will expand on in the following profile.”
